Allonn E. Levy is an attorney with
Hopkins & Carley,
in San Jose, California.
He handles a wide range of
litigation issues at both the trial and appellate levels. In
December of 1999, the San Francisco-based Electronic Frontier
Foundation approached Levy requesting assistance in defending a
number of
DVD-related cases
involving a crack of the DVD Content
Scrambling System (CSS).
The cases involve precedent-setting issues involving
Trade Secret law, First Amendment law, and the recent
Digital Millenium Copyright Act.
Mr. Levy is a board member for the non-profit Community Technology Alliance, and the Editor Emeritus for Santa Clara University's legal newspaper The Advocate. He is also a board member and officer in the Long Beach-based startup Blue Calico, Ltd. Mr. Levy has been invited to speak on various legal and technology issues. He has presented talks at LinuxWorld New York, DVD Pro in Burlingame, and the RSA Conference in San Jose. |
